Do I want to Move to Highland Beach?

Highland Beach Beautiful View

Before you even consider Highland Beach as a prospective town for relocation, there’s one very important question you need to answer; do you care about wildlife and the environment? If your answer is “no”, you may find Highland Beach to be a slightly restrictive place to live. If “yes”, you probably wouldn’t find anywhere better. Let Lee’s Moving Company move you there, stress-free.

Highland Beach is a perfect small town, completely surrounded by convenient, easy-to-reach big towns and cities. It is bordered by Delray Beach and Boca Raton on its northern and southern sides, and by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west.

The town sits right on the A1A, which also serves as its main street, although you would never think of the A1A as a state road at that point – various trees line the sidewalks, and there are no traffic lights within the town.

If you’re thinking that no traffic lights in a Florida Beach Town sounds too good to be true, wait till you hear how small the population is. If you love the small town vibe, and you really want to live in a beach town, Highland Beach is the place for you. The year-round population is around 4000 people, although this number does increase significantly during the temperate winter months.

The town consists largely of retirees, with a median age of 66 and over 80% of the population above the age of 45. Despite its diminutive size, the Town of Highland Beach offers all the necessary municipal services, many of which are supplied through contract.

Highland Beach has a strong pride for the veterans who have come from or relocated to the town, and information on these brave souls is available on the town’s official website. There are also a number of branches of Florida and Palm Beach senior services provided, including Alzheimer’s Community Care and Palm Beach County Division of Senior Services.

Located in the southeastern part of Florida, the town enjoys a temperate, tropical climate, with hot, wet, humid summers, and windy but moderate winters. It is also a very important nesting ground for sea turtles, boasting about three miles of beaches. During the summer months, from March to October, the sea turtles make their nests on the beaches at night, before heading back to the sea.

When the babies hatch a few weeks later, they follow in their mothers’ footsteps, guided by the reflection of the moon and stars on the water. Sadly, because it is light that guides them, any artificial light coming from the beachfront will confuse them and prevent their arrival in the waves.

Citizens are asked to respect the nesting grounds during the summer months, and turn off all beachfront lighting at night. It is up to all residents and visitors to help protect these endangered animals, and since less than one in 1000 survive to adulthood, we should all take this very seriously. Please don’t move to Highland Beach if you don’t intend to do your part.

Highland Beach Moving Questions

Common questions from Highland Beach residents

Do you service Highland Beach specifically, or just the wider area?

Yes. Lee's has served Highland Beach since 1974. Our crews move the oceanfront condo towers along A1A, the Intracoastal-side estates, and the single-family homes throughout this barrier-island town between Boca Raton and Delray Beach.

How does your pricing work in Highland Beach: flat rate or hourly?

Your choice. We offer a guaranteed binding flat rate, where the price we quote is the price you pay in writing, or a straight hourly rate where you pay only for the hours worked, with no upcharges. Every quote is free, with no deposit.

What does a local move in Highland Beach cost?

A one-bedroom condo typically runs $400 to $800, and a larger oceanfront residence $1,200 to $3,500 or more. Volume, elevator access, specialty items, and time of year all affect it. You choose flat rate or hourly, and your quote covers everything with no hidden fees.

Are you licensed and insured, and is that required in Florida?

Yes on both. Florida law requires every mover to register with FDACS, and movers crossing county lines need a USDOT number. Lee's holds USDOT 3034432, MC-21211-C, FDACS IM2822, and PBCCA PBCMV50, all active and searchable. Verify us at SAFER.fmcsa.dot.gov before you trust anyone with your home.

Can you move me in or out of a Highland Beach oceanfront condo?

Yes. Highland Beach's oceanfront condo buildings along South Ocean Boulevard usually require a reserved freight elevator, padded walls, and a certificate of insurance on file before move day. We arrange all of it for you.

Do you handle HOA and gated-community requirements in Highland Beach?

Yes. Highland Beach condos and gated communities require certificates of insurance, advance access approval, and reserved elevators or move windows. We handle the building paperwork and scheduling so move day stays on track.

How long will a local Highland Beach move take?

Most finish in one day. A one-bedroom condo runs 3 to 5 hours, and a three-bedroom home 6 to 9. Oceanfront buildings with a single freight elevator and strict move windows can add time, which your estimate accounts for.

How do I get a Highland Beach quote and book my move?

Call our Highland Beach team at 561-677-3898 or fill out the form on this page. Most estimates are done in one call. There is no deposit. You reserve your date, and you pay only after your move is complete.
